MARTINA SAN DIEGO is a Filipina-American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who weaves a tapestry of ethereal, alternative folk sounds inspired by her diverse life experiences.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Martina’s musical journey began in the DC metro area, unfolding to the Philippines and New York City before finding a home in Atlanta, GA.
Her career began as the lead vocalist of the band Ivy Rose, where she honed her artistry as a songwriter. During this time, Martina released two albums with Ivy Rose—"This Adventure" and "Rain”—performed on America’s Got Talent and supported Ben Folds & Weezer at the University of Maryland’s “Art Attack” concert series.
Shortly after, Martina took a hiatus to connect with her roots in the Philippines. The island lifestyle offered a fresh perspective, inspiring her solo debut album, “Blank Walls”, released under 22 Tango Records. While in the Philippines, Martina collaborated with Kyle Wong (The Wonggoys) on the single, "Balay Ni Mayang," earning 3rd place in the Pop Music Festival, “Vispop”, topping local radio charts and gaining international recognition.
Upon her return to the States, Martina independently released her introspective sophomore album, “Illuminate”, while attending NYU for Songwriting & Recorded Music.
With an ethereal sound reminiscent of musical luminaries such as Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries), Feist, and Eva Cassidy, Martina's contemplative lyrics and dreamy songwriting style leaves listeners nostalgic for simpler times.
As Martina San Diego continues to carve her niche in the alternative folk scene, her upcoming release promises to be a testament to her evolution as an artist. Transcending borders, Martina invites listeners into a sonic realm where her hyphenated experiences find expression in every note and lyric.
